¨From the Rabbi’s Study¨

This past Monday, a United Airlines flight nonstop from O’Hare to Tel Aviv was delayed nine hours because one of the bathrooms was broken. Imagine the turmoil it caused both coming and going (pardon the pun). Nevertheless, the flight was full as are all the flights to Tel Aviv and the passengers departed safely on their journey. 12 hours later they arrived. Imagine now you are Avrohom Avinu (then named Avrom) who leaves Haran on a fateful journey through nomadic lands fraught with desolation and danger. Yet he and Sarai (soon to be named Sarah) did not hesitate to abide by hashem’s directive to go to the land which today is identified as the homeland of the Jewish people and establish roots for all generations to follow. This is as remarkable as it is religiously inspiring. It is what motivates us to the present day to consider Eretz Yisroel our homeland. We travel there as if it were our second home and feel totally at ease amongst our kinsmen. For this we appreciate every pasuk of this coming week’s Parsha.

L’shana Haba B’Yerushalayim.

Good Shabbos
