¨From the Rabbi’s Study¨

Recently a Finnish citizen had planned a public burning of a Torah scroll to protest the public burning of the Koran. Incredibly this was considered legal in that country. Thankfully the protester himself withdrew but the damage remains. This same week an American congresswoman called Israel a racist State.

We are in the nine days. During this period our people suffered one massacre after the next and the book burning, and blood libels are included. The kinot describe horrific tragedies and our way of life indeed our very existence was held in the balance. Our prayers on Tisha B’Av reflect these realities even as we seek comfort in the afternoon and the days following. We must remain vigilant, remember the past and resolve to fight hatred at home and abroad.
Good Shabbos

Rabbi A. M. Abramson
